Here’s How You Can Increase Your Breast Size

Since time immemorial, a voluptuous, curvier figure has been on the wishlist of many women and girls. From classic paintings and sculptures to on-screen sirens and supermodels, big breasts have always been a much-admired and envious beauty feature. Read ahead to explore a few scientific and anecdotal hacks on how to increase your breast size.

So, what affects my breast size?

There is no ‘ideal’ breast size. The distribution of body fat, hormonal fluctuations, and body type affect breast size.

Factors affecting breast size

Factors that impact breast size are:

  • Breasts are essentially fat, glandular and connective tissues. They hold the mammary glands, which swell up during pregnancy and postpartum for breastfeeding babies.
  • Certain body types tend to gain weight around the breast area and the chest, making the breasts look bigger.
  • The breast’s size and development are greatly influenced by hormones such as oestrogen and progesterone.

What else impacts your breast size?

Hormonal changes during menstrual cycles also influence the possibility of big breasts. As you get closer to your period, progesterone makes your milk glands grow, causing your breasts to swell and sometimes feel sore. This can make your breasts look bigger. During your period, your breasts might feel lumpier because the glands are preparing for a possible pregnancy. However, this is normal, and your breasts will return to their usual size and texture after your period.

Breast sizes are supposed to increase with age. Menopause can lead to an increase in breast size due to a shift in the balance of oestrogen and progesterone, which makes the breast tissue denser or more fatty.

Genetic factors are also crucial in determining breast size. Genetic makeup influences factors such as the amount of glandular tissue, the density of the breast tissue, and the overall body fat distribution.

Get your girlies: How to increase your breast size

The market is full of gimmicks about how to increase one’s breast size. You may have heard that breast massage helps with increasing size; however, there is no scientific evidence that breast massage impacts breast size. There is no secret sauce, a one-size-fits-all approach, or an overnight fix to growing your breasts. Here are a few strategies that may help to strengthen and enlarge your breasts.

1) Diet

There are no particular foods that help increase your breast size. A balanced, healthy meal with sizable amounts of protein is essential for your hormones and glands to function properly. In addition, drinking enough water is also important for the tissues in the body to stay hydrated.

2) Targeted exercises

Exercise alone cannot modify your breast size. Nonetheless, there are targeted workouts that tighten and strengthen the chest muscles and reduce the extra flab around the breasts. This makes the breasts firm and gives them an ideal lift. Some of these exercises include:

  • Arm circles: Extend your arms on both sides, make circles in a clockwise and then anticlockwise motion, and repeat each motion eight times in each of the three stages. This exercise engages your chest and shoulder muscles, and it is the best exercise to start with.
  • Push-ups (both floor and wall push-ups): Adopt the plank position by pressing your palm on the floor. Engage the core and squeeze your quads and glutes. Then squat by bending the elbow and keeping your body straight, and do push-ups. Two to three sets with 8-12 repetitions are good enough.
  • Wall presses: Lean towards the wall in a similar position as in push-ups. This is a more convenient form in comparison to floor push-ups. This targets the chest muscles alone, without engaging the abdomen or legs.
  • Dumbbell flys: Lie on a bench or inclined plane, lift weights, and raise and pull the dumbbells to the level of your chest. Repeat 2-3 sets, each 8-10 times. This isolates and works on the chest muscles and may add firmness and fullness.
  • Chest presses: Position yourself face up on an exercise bench, gripping a dumbbell in both hands. Flex your arms to form a right angle and extend them fully upwards, pushing the dumbbells above. Lower the weights back down, stopping before they touch your chest to maintain muscle engagement. This, isolatedly, works on the pectoral muscles and makes the chest firm.

3) Yoga

Yoga is more than a form of exercise; it adds to your overall health and mental wellness. Certain yoga asanas, like the ‘sun salutation’, cobra pose, cow face pose, and more engage and stretch the chest muscles.

Did You Know?

There is no scientific evidence that breast massage impacts breast size.

Don’t beat your breast about it

When trying to increase your breast size, it is important to set realistic expectations. Do not overlook your genetics and body type when aiming for big breasts. Regular targeted exercises in combination with protein-rich foods hold the key to firm and fuller breasts.

Also, while it’s normal to feel conscious about your breast size, it does not in any way decide whether you’re beautiful or not.

Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does sex increase breast size?

There is no scientific proof directly linking breast size with the frequency of sexual activity. Sex cannot fundamentally change breast size and shape.

2) Does boob size increase by pressing it?

Chest presses help strengthen the chest muscles and boost their growth and tone.  Here’s how to do chest presses: Position yourself face up on an exercise bench, gripping a dumbbell in both hands. Flex your arms to form a right angle and extend them fully upwards, pushing the dumbbells above. Lower the weights back down, stopping before they touch your chest to maintain muscle engagement. This, isolatedly, works on the pectoral muscles and makes the chest firm.

3) What are the most effective exercises for increasing breast size?

The most effective exercises for increasing breast size include — chest presses, arm circles, dumbbell flys, and pushups.

4) Can diet alone significantly change breast size?

5) Is it possible to increase breast size?

Yes. It is possible to increase breast size. Regular chest exercises, nutritious foods, and yoga, can help.

6) At what age do boobs stop growing?

Boobs stop growing within a few years of attaining puberty — when the first menstrual cycle takes place. By the age of 18, as the growth cycle stops, boobs also stop growing. However, hormonal changes throughout a woman’s life influence breast size. For example, as you get closer to your period, progesterone makes your milk glands grow, causing your breasts to swell and make your breasts look bigger. Menopause can lead to an increase in breast size due to a shift in the balance of oestrogen and progesterone, which makes the breast tissue denser or more fatty.

7) How can a skinny girl increase her breast size?

Breast size greatly depends on genetic factors and body types. Skinny girls and women may have smaller breast size; however, food and targeted exercises can help in fat deposition and make the chest appear firmer.
